Is there a deadline for enrolling in the institute?Enrollment is rolling but be mindful of the start dates of individual courses. You can apply for the institute using our NGSII application. Upon acceptance, course facilitators will reach out with next steps.

Are all courses open to all age groups?Yes! Our institute is geared to any Black person 13 and up.

Can you be enrolled in more than one course at once?Yes, You can attend more than one course at once as long as the courses do not overlap.

Do I need experience or prior knowledge about course topics in order to enroll?No. The purpose of this institute is to increase access to information in our community. While prior knowledge is not required, commitment to academic rigor, collective learning, and independent study is.

How long are the classes?On average, each session is 90 minutes. Most courses offer 2-4 sessions.

Are all courses virtual?No, all courses are not virtual. *COVID-19 safety percaustions will be in place for all in person sessions*

Do I have to pay for course materials?Each course has its own syllabus with a list of required materials. Some courses may require the purchase of books, subscriptions, etc. However, we are doing our best to provide free access to most course materials.

Will courses be graded?No. However, you are expected to adhere to the NGSII values and expectations which can be found here.
